WELCOME TO GANGWAY MINIATURE SCHNAUZERS!

Gangway Miniature Schnauzers is the breeding program of Bill Brown, Houston, Texas. We have been involved in breeding and showing Miniature Schnauzers, in various ways, since 1958. Our objective is to breed Miniature Schnauzers of uncompromising quality, as measured by our breed standard. Our recent record for uniformity of quality and success in the show-ring is unsurpassed in the breed. The program is also very limited in size. Consequently, we very rarely have pet puppies available. We do occasionally have available young adult dogs that have finished their show careers and/or females that have finished their breeding careers. Gangway currently has puppies! We very rarely have puppies but have 8 new puppies on the ground. We expect to have both pets and show prospects. This is your chance!

Gangway has enjoyed great success in the show-ring the past few years. The group-winning brothers Ch. Gangway's Mission Engineer (Diesel) and Ch. Gangway's Mission Excavator (Digger) were ranked in the top-20 in breed points in 2014 and 2015 and Diesel was ranked number 7 in 2014. His son, Ch. Gangway's Mission Gambit (Tanner) is a multiple group-winner and ranked number 8 in 2017 in very limited showing. Tanner's younger siblings EB (GCH Gangway's Mission Jackpot) and Jett (GCH Gangway's Mission Jetpack) were ranked 2 and 3 among all black and silver Miniature Schnauzers for 2018 by the Schnauzer Shorts system. They accomplished this with neither being specialled more than a handful of weekends.

2013 was a record year for Gangway! Six new homebreds completed their championships. Plus two more champions finished early in 2014. No less than eleven homebreds finished in the seventeen month period from September 2012 to February 2014. Along the way this new batch of champions picked up 26 majors and numerous bests-of-breeds and group placements. This recent success comes on top of two new champions in 2011 and three in 2010 and brings the total for Gangway to 41 homebred champions, 39 of which have finished in the past 13 years and 21 in the past 5 years!

2009 was also banner year at Gangway! Six new homebreds completed their championships which tied Gangway for top breeder for the year. Along the way that year, this new batch picked up 17 majors, including 5 coveted five-pointers, 52 bests-of-breed, and 16 group placements. According to Schnauzer Shorts rankings for the year, there were no less than four Gangway dogs ranked in the top thirty for the year with one in the top ten and two others in the top twenty. Included in this group, were the three outstanding brothers: Ch. Gangway Murphy's Paradox (top ten), Ch. Gangway Murphy's Exception (top twenty), and Ch. Gangway Murphy's Lawyer, who was BOS at the Devon show on the Montgomery County weekend.

Notably, almost all of these champions were breeder and/or owner handled to their championships and subsequent wins. As a consequence, at least three Gangway homebreds have been invited to the AKC/Eukanuba invitational show each of the past seven years. Beyond just finishing their championships, many of these dogs have gone on to distinguished careers as specials. No less than nine have been nationally ranked with five ranked in more than one year. Additional details about these recent Gangway accomplishments are available by clicking on the news button to access the news section.

When you consider the number of puppies whelped by Gangway you discover that almost all have completed their championships. We have had no less than eight all-champion litters and are working on more. This is not entirely surprising, since Gangway's matriarch, Ch. Ruedesheim's Gangway Annie was the dam of three all-champion litters: 9 puppies and 9 champions. This is a breed record for all offspring completing their championships. One of these champions is Ch. Gangway's Final Feature, who now has 12 champion offspring and is one of the all-time top producers. And her daughter Ch. Gangway's Jacqueminot Jackpot now has nine champions offspring of her own from just three litters with more to come. Prior to starting Gangway, Bill Brown was involved in his family's Miniature Schnauzer breeding program at Kansho Kennels in the 60's. And amazingly, there is a direct genealogical link between the Kansho dogs and the more recent Gangway champions. Additional details and photos from this bygone era can be accessed by clicking the Kansho button.
